Quality Enhancement Cell

To comply with the requirements of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Islamabad, The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) at GIFT University Gujranwala was established on dated 18th July 2012. It started functioning under the supervision of Professor Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Tahir, Rector of GIFT University in the same year. QEC at GIFT University is working to safeguard the public interest by enforcing good practices in education and encouraging continuous improvement in the quality of degree programs.

A fully furnished and equipped separate office has been allocated to the QEC. QEC is fully functional to carry out the activities as per instructions by the QAA.

Considering guidelines by the Quality Assurance Committee (QAC), HEC Islamabad, the following are the key responsibilities of the Quality Enhancement Cell.

  • The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) is to be headed by the Director reporting directly to Rector. He is to be the correspondent with the outside bodies
  • QEC is responsible for promoting public confidence that the quality and standards of the award of degrees are enhanced and safeguarded.
  • QEC is responsible for the review of quality standards and the quality of teaching and learning in each subject area.
  • QEC is responsible for the review of academic affiliations with other institutions in terms of effective management of standards and quality of programs.
  • QEC is responsible for defining clear and explicit standards as points of reference to the reviews to be carried out. It should also help the employees to know what they could expect from candidates.
  • QEC is responsible to develop a qualifications framework by setting out the attributes and abilities that can be expected from the holder of a qualification, i.e., Bachelors, Bachelor with Honors, Master's, M. Phil., Doctoral program.
  • QEC is responsible to develop program specifications. These are the standard set of information clarifying what knowledge, understanding, skills, and other attributes a student will have developed on completing a specific program.
  • QEC is responsible to develop quality assurance processes and methods of evaluation to affirm that the quality of provision and the standard of awards are being maintained and to foster curriculum, subject, and staff development, together with research and other scholarly activities.
  • QEC is responsible to ensure that the university's quality assurance procedures are designed to fit in with the arrangements in place nationally for maintaining and improving the quality of Higher Education.
  • QEC is responsible to develop procedures for the following:
  • a. Approval of new programs
  • b. Annual monitoring and evaluation including program monitoring, faculty monitoring, and student perception.

  • d. Student feedback
  • e. Employer feedback
  • f. Quality assurance of Master's, M. Phil. And Ph. D. degree programs

Mission

“To continually enhance the quality of education for the satisfaction of stakeholders in the instructional processes and administrative services delivery.”

Objectives

  • To implement internal quality assurance mechanism.
  • To conduct training for Program and Assessment Team to give awareness regarding the self-assessment process.
  • To affirm that curriculum and research are being delivered as per HEC Criteria.
  • To facilitate the concerned departments in getting accreditation from the professional councils/bodies prescribed by Higher Education Commission.
  • To acquire the membership of international and national agencies working for Quality Assurance and standardization.
  • To verify that Institutional Performance Evaluations & Standards of Accreditations in the GIFT University are in line with HEC guidelines.
  • To examine the ongoing quality in the University.
  • To develop policies and procedures for continual improvement of quality of education.
  • To implement directives of Quality Assurance Agency, HEC Islamabad regarding rules and regulations set by them in terms of faculty appointment, plagiarism detection, admission to MS/MPhil, and Ph.D. programs.
